3 Life-Changing Books to Read this Year

Last January I was dealing with a lot of health issues and struggling with anxiety. Life felt very overwhelming to me all the time. I really wanted to find my purpose and  my passion in life. I read several books and even met with a Christian counselor for guidance.

Here is a list of some of the books I read last year that helped me change some of my daily routines and habits for the better. I wrote a little review of why I liked each book so much.

If you click on the books, it takes you strait to amazon.com so you can find out more about it!

  1. Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less by Greg McKeown

After Tim and I read this book last year, we made the decision to get rid of our TV. It really makes you think about what is most important in your life, and what your priorities are.

This quote really stuck with me, "If you don't prioritize your life, someone else will."

For us, we were watching way too much TV and couldn't turn it off to do anything else productive or fun. And we found that it wasn't making us feel any more relaxed to watch it. We got rid of the TV and started pursuing things that are life-giving to us in our free time instead.

2. Soul Keeping by John Ortberg

This book will always hold a really special place in my heart. I read last year with a group of girls when I was struggling with anxiety.

This is a great book for the anxious soul.

This books explains how and why we should take care of our soul.  If you are feeling like you get stressed out very easily or like life is just too overwhelming, you should read this book. Ask a friend to ready it with you. You will be glad you did.

3. Seamless by Angie Smith

This is a 6 week Bible study, and it goes through and highlights the entire Bible.

It is very easy to understand, and will give you a VERY good understanding of the entire Bible as one big story. The author also gives context into what was going on at the time of each story, and how the stories relate to us today.

I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who is wanting to dig deeper into the Bible this year.

What great books have you read lately?
